Painful, mainly.
It happens when tissues like those growing inside the womb grow
outside of it, where they're not
meant to grow.
These tissues then act like the normal tissues inside the uterus during the monthly
menstrual cycle.
If left untreated, the condition can cause infertility, debilitating pain, ovarian cysts and adhesions (problematic scar-like tissue).
